Recuperators
Cross-flow air to air heat exchangers or recuperators, typically offer 45-65% heat recovery, with an optional summer bypass.
Key advantages are:
- Passive heat recovery unlike a rotating wheels
- Very reliable & low maintenance
- No leakage between airflows.
- Suitable in high humidity envronments eg swimming pools.
- Aluminium and resistant to corrosion.
- Available with an epoxy finish for longer life in coastal or pool applications.
- Double recuperators available for efficiecy up to 90%
Limits:
- Supply and exhaust airflows have to be adjacent.
- No transfer of moisture, which can also be an advantage ie pools
- Single recuperator efficienciy tends to be slightly lower than aheivable than wheels.
